The Sino-Russian School on Mathematical Modelling and Parallel Computing was organized by Sechenov University, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Science, and Moscow Centre for Fundamental and Applied Mathematics at INM RAS (Institute of Numerical Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences).
A distinctive feature of the online School this year was the SIAT-SECHENOV competition for numerical modeling of bioimpedance analysis, which runs from October 25 to November 26.
The goal of the competition is to develop students' problem-solving skills by searching for appropriate software through independent research, as well as gaining experience in designing a complete process chain, from medical imaging to sensitivity analysis.
Stages of the competition:
- Stage 1 - segmentation of medical images - from October 25 to November 4;
- Stage 2 - grid generation - from November 5 to November 10;
- Stage 3 - discretization of space: finite element method - from November 11 to November 15;
- Stage 4 - parallel methods for solving linear systems - from November 16 to November 22;
- Stage 5 - analysis of the results - from November 23 to November 26.
The Sino-Russian interdisciplinary school "Biomedical Engineering and Mathematical Modeling" was first held offline in January 2019 in Moscow on the basis of Sechenov University. Since then, this event has been held annually with the support of the Department of Strategic Development and Internationalization of Sechenov University.
