The Russian–Chinese International Dental Forum 2021 took place on 6–7 May 2021. It was organised by the Institute of Dentistry at Sechenov University (Moscow, Russia) and the Institute of Dentistry at Harbin Medical University (Harbin, China). The attendees could participate both online and offline.
The conference was part of the co-operation framework within the Association of Sino-Russian Medical Universities (ASRMU), which is co-chaired by Petr Glybochko, Rector of Sechenov University.
More than 300 people— teaching staff, graduate students, residents, students from leading specialized educational institutions, and practicing doctors, attended the event. The attendees were from Russia, China, Armenia, Egypt, Syria, South Korea, and the US.
At the opening ceremony, Academician Baofeng Yang, Co-Chairperson of ASRMU, noted the close relationship between Harbin Medical University and Sechenov University, as well as the progress in co-operation between Chinese and Russian universities in general.
Prof Irina Makeeva, Director of the Institute of Dentistry at Sechenov University and Honoured Doctor of the Russian Federation, underlined the importance of scientific co-operation within the ASRMU framework. She said that the conference brought together specialists and students from different countries, helping them to share knowledge, experience, and achievements in different fields of dentistry. Prof Irina Makeeva also announced that Prof Yumei Niu, Director of the Institute of Dentistry and Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Harbin Medical University, was awarded the title of Honorary Professor at the Institute of Dentistry at Sechenov University.

The participants discussed prevention and treatment of dental caries; precancerous lesions of the oral mucosa; robot-assisted interventions in the treatment of head and neck neoplasms; the use of AI in the diagnosis of dental diseases; the molecular genetic approach in implantation; 3D printing; the studies of the metastasis mechanism of squamous cell carcinoma; the use of stem cells in dentistry; unconventional and innovative approaches in orthodontic treatment; and more.

On behalf of the Institute of Dentistry at Harbin Medical University, Prof Shuang Pan presented the title of Honorary Lecturer at Harbin Medical University to Edita Margaryan, Professor at the Institute of Dentistry, Sechenov University.
At the end of the Russian–Chinese International Dental Forum 2021, the participants expressed their wish to continue having similar events on a regular basis. This will contribute to the scientific and practical exchange and improve the level of teaching and research at Sechenov University and Harbin Medical University.
