Sechenov University's delegation headed by the rector took part in the opening meeting of the Association of Sino-Russian Medical Universities (ASRMU), which was held at Guangdong Pharmaceutical University (Guangzhou, China) on January 17, 2019. More than 30 Chinese and Russian rectors represented top universities of both countries.
The rector’s meeting set the stage for the series of the international events, such as Sino-Russian Conference on treatment and prevention of metabolic diseases, Sino-Russian Symposium on clinical pharmacology, Sino-Russian Congress on innovative training techniques in clinical pharmacology.
The main topics were pharmaceutical education, training for the pharmaceutical industry, improving the quality of pharmaceutical care, the introduction of new technologies in pharmacology and the interaction of universities with business. The participants summed up the work of the Association in 2018, shared the best practices in the field of international education and clinical pharmacology, and outlined plans to strengthen further bilateral cooperation.
Prof. Guo Jiao (Rector, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University), Prof. Yang Baofeng (co-Chairman of the Association of Sino-Russian Medical Universities from Chinese side, ex-rector of Harbin Medical University), and Prof. Petr V. Glybochko (co-Chairman of the Association of Sino-Russian Medical Universities from Russian side) presented welcome speeches during the opening ceremony.
“These conferences, as well as many other events of the Association of Sino-Russian Medical Universities, are regarded as an effective platform for professional dialogue of the top Russian and Chinese experts in healthcare & pharmaceutical industry. It’s necessary to note that Sino-Russian Commission for Humanitarian Cooperation headed by both Vice-premiers, highly appreciates contribution of the Association in development of bilateral cooperation in health care. Sechenov University is working on "School-University-Pharmaceutical Industry" project focused on training specialists for pharmaceutical industry, conducting clinical research, creating new drugs, building partnership with key representatives of pharmaceutical business,"- told the Sechenov University's rector.
Yang Baofeng, President of Harbin Medical University, emphasized in his speech: “We hope to expand the prospects for mutual partnership, deepen research and educational cooperation in the field of pharmacology, in particular, in the framework of training highly qualified professionals, as well as developing new types of products and technologies. Thus, only by joint efforts will we be able to assist the development of the pharmaceutical industry in both countries.”
The Association of Sino-Russian Medical Universities was jointly established by Sechenov University and Harbin Medical University in 2014.
